Job Title: Equipment Planner


Saint Cloud, MN
Full-time

Job Description:

To organize, plan, and schedule all equipment and personnel for the crane division to create efficiency and develop cost savings especially for non-billable time. Specific tasks to include but not limited to the following:

Manage rigging through the following tasks:

Create and maintain an inventory and accountability for all rigging.
Coordinate all additional rigging and load securement needs for each job.
Check out all additional items to include inspection of current condition and documentation. Coordinate loading of additional items to proper trailer or crane.
Coordinate off-loading of all additional items upon job completion to include inspection of condition and documenting the check-in.
If return is after hours, provide specific instructions to crew and follow up with check-in the next morning.
Maintain current inventory list for each crane box.
Spot check each crane box for proper storage, quantities, and condition.
Document the results of each spot check.
Maintain accountability within the crews to these results.
Report poor results to crane manager.
Coordinate all rigging inspection requirements including annual chain rigging inspections and documentation.
Maintain all non-assigned rigging in a secured environment.
Coordinate with the shop manager for all maintenance needs:
Maintain tracking of all equipment inspections.
Work with shop to preplan and schedule all inspections.
Coordinate planned downtime for all equipment around job schedules.
Monitor breakdowns in the field and work with crews and shop to minimize downtime. Keep all crane team members continually updated on downtime that will or may affect jobs.
Communicate all equipment downtime to the crane team for effective communication with the customer and commitments to them.
Create and develop effective and efficient operator/oiler teams.
Review future work outlook to current staffing levels. All future shortfalls should be raised to Crane Manager to review options or begin the hiring process.
Efficiently plan personnel and cranes with each job to include:
Confirming jobs and times to insure they remain on schedule.
Provide maps for crews with appropriate routing.
Assign tractors and trailers by unit number.
Order Highway permits as required for all units including annual and single trip permits.
Monitor crew schedules throughout the day and report delays to management immediately.

Manage yard operations through the following tasks:

Provide personnel with specific task list and time requirements for each task and monitor results to ensure efficient use of time.
Organize and maintain a documented yard layout for efficient operations and streamlined tracking of all items in yard.
Maintain inventory of customer stored items including signing for, photographing, and documenting any exceptions or damage to cargo. Create and place label for easy identification for loading crew.
Manage spare trailers for project needs to include pre-loading customer product, crane equipment, or other requirements as needed.
Ensure all personnel are checking in/out with planner and following all yard expectations including but not limited to parking locations for each crane, tractor, trailer, and storage requirement.
Monitor any paper job tickets upon completion of the project and cross check time cards and organize for payroll. If jobs appear excessive in hours, communicate to appropriate manager.
Keep track of all yard time hours and any additional chargeable items such as off-loading/loading fees, permits, storage costs, etc.
Maintain accountability for proper documentation and signature requirements from all crews.
Assist crane division in maintaining a culture of safety with all personnel.
Assist manager with all other tasks as needed.

Job Title: Class A Truck Driver


Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Authorization/Supervision: Dispatch

Job Specifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: 2 years of proven commercial driving experience with tractor-trailer driving required. Construction experience preferred.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Class A Truck Driver:

Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
Communicate with dispatch as needed.
Fully understand how to operate and safely drive commercial vehicles.
Ensure contents are properly secured inside of truck to prevent breakage or damage.
Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
Track and report working hours.
Adhere to company rules and regulations.
Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions.
Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
Make safety a priority at all times.

Job Title: Trailer Technician


Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Authorization/Supervision: Shop Foreman

Objective:

The primary function of the position will be to diagnose and repair trailers used for construction at various job sites or at the maintenance shop. This individual must be flexible and open to possible overtime and outside conditions throughout the construction season. This individual must also be able to make timely repairs, provide ongoing maintenance and monitor trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all trailers to determine needed repairs.
  • Discuss trailer problems with supervisor and others as needed.
  • Repair, replace, calibrate, adjust and/or rebuild components.
  • Test repaired trailers for proper operation.
  • Inspect, add and/or change fluids and lubricants for all types of trailers.
  • Check and replace worn parts and perform other routine service and maintenance.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, equipment and commercial motor vehicles.
  • Perform necessary welding and fabrication.
  • Remain current with knowledge of trailers to be serviced.
  • Assist with ordering parts, materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance.
  • Use of electronic maintenance system to create work orders, track labor hours and materials.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness while working at job sites and at the shop.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety regulations.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction-related curriculum or equivalent experience.
Experience: 5 years of construction-related experience required. Demolition experience preferred.

The Demolition Estimator/Project Manager will interact on a day to day basis with administration, the management team, and the project workforce. This is a deadline-oriented role, where time requirements fluctuate according to the bid/project schedules. Some travel will be required as dictated by the project opportunities. The Demolition Estimator/Project Manager position is a full time, year-round position.

The position will interact with all levels of personnel within the company including union and non-union employees, administration, other department managers and support personnel, and will interact with external sources such as engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and governmental entities.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Demolition Estimator/Project Manager:

Provide leadership to ensure safe work practices at all times while promoting a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
Ability to develop a complete and detailed estimate of project cost through a thorough review of project plans, specifications, job site conditions, historical data, and input from field operations.
Create opportunities for the Company to be successful through the development of industry relationships, and market insight.
Working knowledge of construction-related software to include estimating, scheduling, job cost, and takeoff applications.
Lead bid review and bid closing processes to ensure accuracy, and to evaluate project feasibility with overall Company backlog.
Stay abreast of trends and developments such as new equipment, materials, technology, and methods and procedures developing in the construction industry.
Analyze alternate construction means and methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
Tabulate bid history by market to ensure competitiveness and maximize margin capture.
Lead the communication of estimate information to field operations at internal preconstruction meetings to ensure understanding of scope and critical means and methods of construction.
Manage and direct project teams by providing dynamic communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives, ensure understanding of project scope, and to ensure that project schedules and budgets are clearly defined and understood.
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of job reporting and controls such as; payroll, equipment utilization, materials, and completed quantities.
Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and schedule.
Maintain ongoing communication with client and provide adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations.
